Large Pink Opal Phoenix Carving

This is a fabulous carved Pink Opal Phoenix. It is 9" tall and 4.75" wide. She weighs 2LB 11.2OZ. Message to the buyer, this is NOT gem quality opal. It is a matte finish with shades of gray and white. It is not the shiney material that you usually find in opal. But she is stunning none the less and a real centerpiece for anyones collection. The phoenix bird symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death, and in ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology it is associated with the sun god. According to the Greeks, the bird lives in Arabia, near a cool well. Often referred to as the 'stone of spiritual awakening,' pink opal helps with self-healing and rejuvenates the body and mind. Pink Opal is a type of Common Opal that is generally opaque and does not show the “fire” like that of Precious Opals. The country of Peru is known to have the brightest and most impressive Pink Opal specimens, but it can also be found in other South American countries, USA, and even Australia.
