The stone aids clearer communication, and enhances self-confidence as well as self-insight. The ore is found in a remote location on the northwest coast of Madagascar near the town of Ambolobozo. The mine is only accessible at low tide and the jasper is carried by ox- driven carts to small boats, which sail to the nearest town; from there, it is shipped to the factory.

Ocean Jasper which can only be found in Madagascar is described as an orbicular jasper. These materials are characterized by their distinctive orb-like patterns.

Moss agate is said to encourage tranquility and emotional balance. Moss agate is the perfect stone for those who experience strong aggression or overly nurturing emotions, helping to balance male and female energies whenever they become too extreme. Moss Agate also brings peace and draws us closer to nature. It is seen as a place for reflection, and holds feelings of refinement, humility and simplicity. It brings about a sense of nostalgia and contentment. It is a symbol of all your hard work, which has been contributing to your love for life. Mineral Information: Chalcedony, quartz group
Most moss agates are found as fragments weathered from volcanic rocks. Long used for ornamental purposes, they are obtained chiefly from India, Brazil, Uruguay, central Europe, and the western United States.
Moss agate isn‘t actually moss or technically an agate, but the intriguing mottled patterns of cream, green-grey and black inclusions do have a moss-like appearance. The beautiful green shades ranging from sea green to dark forest green appear to float in the semi translucent stone. While moss agate isn‘t strictly an agate because it‘s not banded, the stone does have the same chemical composition and intriguing patterns of agate. Moss agate is a variety of chalcedony, belonging to the quartz family, and is often found as fragments from weathered volcanic rock formed in fissures or as pebbles rather than in traditional agate layering.
The spreading moss-like dendritic inclusions you see in moss agate are mostly oxides of manganese or iron, and the colors vary depending on trace amounts of minerals or metals present, such as chrome.
